Chinese National Day - 1 October

The History of China's National Day | China Independence Day

In contemporary China, the National Day marks the founding of the People's Republic of China. Although Chinese won our independence on September 21, 1949, China's new government passed the “Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China” to make October 1st to be China's National Day. This thus became a grand national festival.

It’s such a big holiday that the whole country enjoys a “Golden Week”—a full seven days off! During this time, families travel, eat delicious food, and watch dazzling fireworks. In Beijing, there’s often a huge parade in Tiananmen Square with music, dancing, and bright red flags everywhere. ✨

At Giggling Panda Chinese School, we love sharing these fun cultural moments to help children learn not just the language, but also the joy and traditions that come with it. ❤️🐼
